The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is located in the heart of the Middle East, surrounded by Syria, Palestine (Israel), Iraq and Saudi Arabia. It has a population of 6,508,887. The official language is Arabic but English is widely understood. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is an absolute monarchy with a representative government. His Majesty King Abdullah II is the Head of State, the Chief Executive and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces.
Jordan is a land immersed in history. It has hosted some of the world’s earliest settlements and villages, and remnants of many of the world’s great civilizations can still be seen today. It can be described as a magical country purely oozing romance and mystery. And although it is trapped in between the chaos of the uprisings in the Middle East, Jordan surprisingly is, on the whole, a very safe, peaceful and friendly country.
