As you know, a country’s cuisine is based on the resources they have available. In Alaska wild berries are readily available, and have a different taste than normal berries. These berries are often used to make jams and spreads. Another thing which is a center piece of Alaskan cuisine is cold water seafood; Alaskan salmon is one of the most important foods in Alaska and is often served as smoked salmon, cured salmon, salmon jerky, and even sweetened Indian salmon candy. The Alaskan salmon and halibut fishing industry brings tourists from all over the world, but it's probably the Alaskan king crab that most people think of first, one is big enough to feed an entire family! Meats such as moose, caribou, elk, or bear are also commonly used in cooking. Reindeer is also a main ingredient in Alaskan cuisine.
